Why there's no rating yet
Age ratings from the ESRB (North America) and PEGI (Europe) are assigned after a publisher submits final or near-final content for review, typically close to release. Because GTA VI has not launched, neither board has a finished rating listed for it.
Any graphic online claiming a confirmed content-descriptor list—'intense violence,' 'strong sexual content,' 'use of drugs'—ahead of an actual filing is either a prediction based on franchise history or fabricated.
- ESRB: no rating published yet
- PEGI: no rating published yet
- Historical pattern: every mainline GTA has rated Mature 17+ / PEGI 18

What has consistently triggered Mature ratings in GTA
Past Grand Theft Auto ESRB summaries cite intense violence, blood, strong language, sexual content, nudity and drug references as recurring content descriptors. Given GTA VI's trailers already show gunfights, robbery violence and mature themes, a Mature 17+ rating is the overwhelmingly likely outcome.
PEGI applies a similar standard in Europe, and GTA V carried a PEGI 18 rating for violence, strong language and other mature content. Nothing in GTA VI's marketing suggests a lower rating is realistic.
03
Could GTA 6 be rated Adults Only?
An AO (Adults Only) rating is rare and commercially damaging, since major console platforms and many retailers restrict AO titles. Rockstar has historically edited content when necessary to secure an M rather than AO rating, as happened with the 2005 'Hot Coffee' controversy around San Andreas. Expect the same commercial incentive to apply to GTA VI.

When to expect the real rating
ESRB and PEGI ratings for major titles are typically published in the weeks before launch, once submission content is finalized. Check the official ESRB and PEGI databases directly closer to November 2026 rather than relying on secondhand summaries.
